Pork Dumplings.

These tasty little morsels quickly became a favorite in this home. They are quite delicious and are very appealing to the eye. A crowd pleaser for sure. These pork dumplings are also absolutely fantastic if your trying to impress that special someone without too much effort. They can be made ahead of time and frozen uncooked , simply thaw cook and serve.

I was visiting Costco with my sister and was delighted when I sampled the little pork dumplings. I thought it was quite possibly the best thing I had ever tasted! I didn’t want to purchase the whole 2 boxes, so I decided to come up with a recipe on my own.

What I did come up with tastes so much better in my opinion because the ingredients were fresh not frozen. Sweet and savory a taste bud explosion for sure.

These tried and true dumplings can be served on their own with a dipping sauce, recipe to follow. You can also use them in won ton soup. As mentioned earlier, they freeze very well simply place on a parchment lined cookie sheet and when completly frozen transfer to a freezer bag.

In order to make these dumplings, you will need the following:

  • 1 lb. of ground pork
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. green onion or chives finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. lite soya sauce
  • 1 & 1/2 Tbsp. Sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp. dry ginger or 1 tsp. freshly grated ginger
  • 1 pkg. won ton wrappers

Combine all ingredients being careful not to over mix. Place about 1 tsp. in the center of a won ton wrapper. Fold and cook as desired. I like to brown the bottoms of mine in a frying pan then add about a cupful of chicken broth and simmer for 4-5 minutes. Yummy! Below you’ll find an old video of me making these tasty morsels in my kitchen. I like to serve mine with a little dipping sauce. Simply combine the following and serve. Enjoy!

I love the sauce it completes the dumplings! A must have in my opinion.

To make the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup lite soya sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp. White wine vinegar
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Chives
  • 1/2 Tsp. garlic powder
  • 3 Tbsp. dark brown sugar
  • pinch of red chili flakes
  • drizzle of sesame oil if desired

Simply combine all ingredients and serve at room temperature. Enjoy!
