Apple Flips aka Apple Hand Pies

What a lovely way to end a long busy day. Kick your feet up and enjoy a freshly baked apple flip. Maybe perhaps you just need a snack or even a little breakfast. Whatever the case, these are sure to satisfy that craving. Yes, they are that good. I’ve had many people across the globe try this recipe and they all say the same : It’s now their “Go To Recipe.” The real star of the show is the pastry.

A recipe that was passed down to me by my wonderful Mother in Law Shirley. She used to work in the cafeteria at the Health Sciences Center ( a hospital in St. John’s) so these are the “real deal.” I haven’t met a single soul who hasn’t enjoyed the gorgeous, satisfying flavor that these Apple flips have. A taste bud explosion for sure.

Very versatile these flips or hand pies can be made into any pie your heart desires; try it with cherry or blueberry, even perhaps a savory filling of meat and gravy, turkey and dressing, Oh the possibilities are endless!

These little delights sure are a sure to please the whole family. They freeze very well too. Great for lunches or snacks.

I also sold a bunch at a craft fair once, so if you enjoy that sort of thing these are a huge seller. I had to make double for the next craft fair. Here’s a video tutorial demonstrating how to make these wonderful apple flips. It’s me in my kitchen I sure hope you enjoy!
