Mars Bars, The original, semi sweet chocolate, Kellogg’s holiday rice krispies and real butter. These are all the ingredients you’ll need to make this simple tried and true recipe. It is one of my absolute favorites hands down. I simply cannot pass up an occasion without making these ooey goosey not to mention super easy, 4 ingredient Mars bar squares.

Yes, this recipe uses only 4 simple ingredients! The gooey mars bars combined with the rice crisps and chocolate ganache topping is simply divine. Not to mention they are a no bake cookie that’s kid friendly with supervision for sure.

Perfect for the holidays, birthday parties, Easter, get togethers or anytime you need that sweet little treat. One never needs an occasion to eat something sweet in my opinion.

I recall the first time I had these yummy little treats. We were not long home from our journey up North and we had all gathered at a friends house for a night of Pictionary and fancy snacks. Our friend Tina had made these, she’s an amazing baker herself. They were so good in fact, I had to have the recipe and make them for myself.

If you’ve never heard of Mars Bars they have been around for many years and are packaged as seen below:

As you can see it has a caramel and nougat center enclosed in delicious milk chocolate yummy. They were first manufactured in 1932 according to Wikipedia.

Watch how easy they are in this short video tutorial. Recipe to follow.

How easy was that! For this recipe you will need the following ingredients:

Ingredients:

  • 5 Mars Bars
  • 1/2 cup real butter
  • 3 cups of Kellogg’s rice krispies or other crispy cereal

Topping:

  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons of real butter

Directions:

Cut Mars bars and 1/2 cup butter into small cubes about an inch or so in size.

Melt together in a large pot over medium heat.

Stir this mixture constantly to ensure it doesn’t burn onto the bottom of the pot.

When the bars and butter are melted and combined, remove from heat.

Add holiday rice krispies and smooth into a lightly greased 9×9 pan 8×8 if you want less squares but thicker.

For the topping:

Melt chocolate chips and 3 tablespoons of butter over a double boiler.

Stir constantly and when silky smooth pour over top of squares and cool completely.

Cut into squares.

Enjoy!

Yummy, don’t they look delicious! I sure hope you enjoyed the tutorial and give these a try next time your craving a little sweet.
